De-clutter your work...
Rhonda Abrams

December, 2010

Whether you had a great year in your small business or a year you'd rather forget, it's time to clear the decks — and your desk — to get ready for a great new year in 2011. One of the best ways to make a fresh start is with a bit of office organizing.

Fortunately, the slow period between Christmas and New Year's is the perfect time to clean. It's one of my traditions to use this week to finally toss all the business detritus I've accumulated during the year. This year, I'm way ahead because we moved our offices a few months ago, and Rosa, my office manager, forced us to throw stuff out. So, believe it or not, I can actually see my desk!

So let's get going and get ready for 2011 by getting rid of the stuff you really don't need to drag into the new year.

10 things to toss before the end of 2010:

1. Stacks

2. Costly items

3. Paper systems

4. Clunky contact management

5. Business cards

6. Ourdated software

7. Old records

8. Old marketing materials

9. Old sutff

10. Negative thinking...
