Samsung's $25,000 gift to help ‘Keep Austin Beautiful' with recycling bins
Samsung

November, 2010

Samsung Austin Semiconductor donated $25,000 to Keep Austin Beautiful, making the company the organization's Diamond Sponsor of their Event Recycling Program. The donation will be used to enhance the free recycling-bin lending program, which establishes recycling at Austin events by joining with a variety of community hosts who lack the resources or infrastructure to accommodate recycling.

"Due to the generous support from Samsung and other partners, including Solid Waste Services, UPS, H-E-B and Conley Sports, the program will soon expand to include educational signage, flutter flags and T-shirts for volunteers assisting with recycling," Keep Austin Beautiful Community Programs Manager Jessica Wilson said.

Keep Austin Beautiful's Event Recycling Program was launched in 2005 and has since diverted more than 15 tons of recyclables from landfills as a direct result of Austin events choosing to go green. The organization has 120 recycling bins available for use at community events.
