Experts on the front lines will discuss prevention, treatment and the sometimes controversial rules and regulations designed to promote safety and preserve a kid's love of the game. The panelists all see the ramifications of kids playing sports year-round and the intense level of competition in youth sports.

Drs. David Schmidt and Paul Saenz are partners in Sports Medicine Associates of San Antonio and team physicians for the San Antonio Spurs, Rampage, Silver Stars, Missions, Trinity University, UTSA and more than 30 area high schools. As assistant athletic director, Karen Funk oversees volleyball, basketball and track for both boys and girls, and is up to date on UIL and state laws and regulations as they pertain to middle and high school athletes. She also is a former coach.
