|November 9, 2010||Celebrating the Arts in the Texas Hill Country|
November 9, 2010
Dear Valued "Arts and Culture' Participant:
This year has been terrific for the Hill Country Council for the Arts! We've had a lot of activity and enjoyed the company of several new members, including organizational members: Agricultural Heritage Museum, the Boerne Area Historical Preservation Society and The Dienger – a Cultural and Heritage Center. We also received the generous in-kind donations and volunteer support of Boerne Sunrise Rotary, Native Plant Society and the renewed support of Friends of Old No. 9.
This year’s accomplishments include the loan and installation of two monumental bronzes, Longhorns, by Texas artist, Robert Summers, and Texas Trees Foundation, and grassroots efforts to introduce the Public Art Master Plan to Boerne residents; Kerrville Performing Arts Society delivering its first world-class performances of Mariachi los Camperos de Nati Cano, with a special performance provided to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes of BISD; and the development of the Business Committee for the Arts program offering an opportunity to business executives to develop and maintain individual art cultures within their companies.
To celebrate a part of our heritage, we are co-hosting the Western Trail Community Day with a free-to-the-community event on November 20th where activities will be held with our partners from 10-3 at the Longhorns at Main Plaza, Agricultural Heritage Museum, The School at Majestic Ranch, the Kuhlmann-King House, Navarro’s Little House across from Veteran’s Plaza, and the Convention and Visitors’ Bureau. Wine Share Boerne! continues to grow and provides monthly informal settings within our business and non-profit community to discuss the arts while learning about new wines.
It's now time to join the Hill Country Council for the Arts in its efforts to bring art and culture to Boerne, and the surrounding Hill Country communities, in the coming year! You don't want to miss being part of the energy that brings visual and performing arts to our communities, and continues to preserve Hill Country Heritage through the literary and preservation efforts of our partners for our children.
