A Message from the President
Dear Friends of the San Antonio Area Foundation,
Every dream for a better community begins with someone willing to invest resources to improve the lives of others. Over the past ten years, it has been my privilege to share in your charitable giving goals - from establishing scholarships for higher education or preserving our vibrant cultural heritage to supporting our military heroes and their families as well as senior social and health care programs.
For this reason, I want to to share with you an important moment in the transition of our organization. I recently announced to our Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff my plans to retire. My last day of service as the President and CEO of the San Antonio Area Foundation will be December 31, 2011.
I am proud of our organization's success to forge creative connections between caring people and worthy causes throughout our beautiful South Central Texas home. No matter the state of the economy, world circumstances, or issues and concerns closer to home, your generosity continues to transform the lives of so many in our community. It has been an honor to help our growing network of donors "...achieve their charitable goals for the greater benefit of the community."
During the next 15 months, I will continue to work with our dedicated Board, volunteers, and staff to implement new initiatives and community outreach programs key to furthering the success of our great city. In the meantime, a Succession Plan is already in place and in accordance with the Plan, an Executive Search Committee has been formed. We will be happy to update you on our progress as we begin a national search.
