NEW! Pint-Size Science (Ages 4-6 yrs) 
Every Wednesday
2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Pint-Sized Science introduces your budding scientists to basic science concepts. Every month we’ll explore a different theme such as weather, animals, reactions, nutrition, and many more.  Free with museum admission.

September’s Theme:   “Let’s Get Physical… with Science!” This month, we’ll be exploring fun physical science concepts!


Toddler Time (Early Childhood - 0-36 months)
Every Tuesday & Thursday 

2:00 p.m.
Interactive activities that build upon the fine and gross motor skills your child is developing. FREE with museum admission.


Reading Adventures (Pre-K)
Every Wednesday
10:30 a.m.
Reading Adventures is an early childhood program created and taught by experienced early childhood educators. The program strengthens language, listening and motor skills through story time, pretend dramatic play and multisensory activities. FREE with museum admission.      


Dots & Squiggles (Pre-K)
Every Friday

10:30 a.m.
Dots and Squiggles is an early childhood program created and taught by experienced early childhood educators. Fun and engaging lessons encourage children to experience a wide variety of activities that incorporate art, sensory exploration, movement, music, story time, and dramatic play. FREE with museum admission.  


FETCH! (Pre-K – Elem) 
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Hands-on science experiments for all ages!

FREE with museum admission.


Art Studio  (Pre-K – Elem) 
Every Saturday * 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Every Third Wednesday * 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Art Studio is a fun, hands-on activity space where children and parents or caregivers can create art together. Lively and well equipped, the Art Studio provides opportunities for exploring self-expression led by artist-educators. FREE with museum admission.

Cub Scout Appreciation Day

Saturday, September 4
All Day
Cub Scouts visit the Museum in uniform and receive $2.00 off of admission all day. Discount applies to Cub Scouts only.  


Little Daily Planner’s Mondays at the Museum

Every FIRST Monday of the month

9:00 am – 11:00 am

Members of Little Daily Planner receive ½ price admission of $3.50 between 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Snake Farm Day!
Every Second Thursday
Get up close and personal with the creeping, crawling, slithering animals that make their home at the Animal World and Snake Farm!

National Play-doh Day!

Celebrate everyone’s favorite toy, Play-doh!  Mold, sculpt, shape and play in the Art Pavilion while learning some cool, little known facts about this much loved toy.    

Free with museum admission.            


Thursday, September 16
5:00pm – 7:00pm
Kids are free between 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm 
$1 parking between 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
(Houston St garage on the corner of Navarro and College St.)
Children must be accompanied by an adult. One adult may accompany up to four children.

Adult admission is $7.

Arts Cart: Painting to the Blues

Discover how music and art share a common thread.  Paint to the sounds of blues artist, Mark Searcy, from the San Antonio Blues Association and enjoy works from local artist Steven G. Smith who delights in painting musicians enjoying their art!
Program fee: $3 per child + museum admission.  Limited space.


Ahoy Matey! Celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Sunday, September 19

Arrrgh, it’s great to be a pirate! Make your very own pirate hat and have a swashbuckling good time between 2pm-4pm in the Art Pavilion. Be sure to ask for our Scavenger Hunt activity to find your own treasure in the museum! Free with museum admission.


MacroLab: Slithering September!

Two Shows!

10:00am & 11:00am
Go on a slithering adventure with Jarrod Forthman from the Animal World and Snake Farm. Get up close and learn about reptiles, bugs, and mammals! 

Program fee: $3 per child + museum admission.  Limited space.


Storytelling with the Book Fairy!

Saturday, September 25 

12:30pm - 1:30pm

It’s a magical storybook experience for everyone when the Book Fairy makes a special visit to SACM to spread the magic of reading and sprinkle her fairy dust.

Free with museum admission.
