Lawndale Art Center is pleased to announce the residents for the fifth year of the Lawndale Artist Studio Program. Artists selected for the program are the collaborative team of Stephan Hillerbrand and Mary Magsamen, Daniel McFarlane and Anthony Thompson Shumate.
With an emphasis on emerging practices, the program will provide these artists with non-residential studio space for nine months (September 2010 – May 2011) on the third floor of Lawndale Art Center in the heart of the Museum District. The artists will have full access to their studios 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Each artist will receive a $500 monthly stipend for the duration of the program and an initial $1500 unrestricted materials allowance. Artists working in all mediums were encouraged to apply. At the completion of the residency, works produced during the program will be exhibited at Lawndale Art Center in May 2011. The 2010-2011 residents were selected from over 100 applicants by a panel of three arts professionals; Robyn O’Neil, Artist; Andrea Pollan, Director, Curator’s Office, Washington, D.C.; and Robert Ruello, Artist and Lawndale Programming Committee Chair.
Hillerbrand+Magsamen, McFarlane and Shumate will give an informal presentation of their work and plans for their residency at Lawndale on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 6PM at Lawndale Art Center.
