It's hot this summer, but the Witte Museum has hours of air-conditioned fun and learning every day and your Witte membership allows you to bring the family as often as you like! Enjoy Gallery Theater performances and science demonstrations, while taking in the Texas art galleries and the H-E-B Science Treehouse. Plus, don't miss your last chance to see Dinosaurs Unearthed, which has turned out to be the most popular exhibit in Witte history.

Clowning Around with the Jolly Joeys

Join us as we celebrate National Clown Week with San Antonio's own clown alley, the Jolly Joeys. Get your face painted, dress up, design your own clown hat, create balloon animals and enjoy the clown show!

In 1970, President Nixon passed the law to observe National Clown Week for recognition of the valuable service clowns provide. The Witte Museum, home to the famous Hertzburg Circus Collection, one of the largest and most impressive collections of circus posters and artifacts in the world, honors this week with a great clown celebration!

What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and relax in the Witte courtyard. Kids are welcome. The H-E-B Science Treehouse will be open. Food and beverages on sale by TÖST Bistro.

Included with museum admission. Members get in free.

Dinos and a Movie: The Land that Time Forgot (1974)
Sunday | August 15 | 2 p.m.

Don't miss the action-packed, full-sound, cult classic The Land that Time Forgot! Set during World War I, the film tells the story of men veered off course at sea into an uncharted destination where dinosaurs still roam.

Join the Witte, Sunday July 18th, for the last summer film festival experience. "Dinosaur George" Blasing will also provide a dynamic and informative introduction. Included with museum admission.

Witte Society Event

Big Tex Carnival
Friday | August 6 |
6 - 8 p.m.

Join the Witte Society for a fantastic night of clowning around! This family friendly party will include carnival games, a bouncy house, entertainment by the Jolly Joeys and a rousing Texas trivia game for the adults. The party is free for Witte Society, Quillin Society, Explorers and Voyager members. All other levels of membership and guests are $25 for adults and $15 for children. Catering will be provided by Don Strange of Texas. Witte Museum Textile Sale
The Witte Museum is now accepting donations for this year’s Textile Sale taking place 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, September 11. The Witte is seeking textiles, linens, vintage clothing, Christmas ornaments and other similar items. All proceeds benefit the Witte Museum. Admission to the Textile Sale is free to all.
