You've always longed to be a writer... Writer's Garrett
You've always longed to be a WRITER . . .
SO, are you ready to get ready? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chances are that you know someone who writes lots of "letters to the editor," has an unfinished book tucked away in a drawer, or "waxes poetic" every Valentine's Day. Maybe this friend or family member was a passionate English major in college, won all the writing contests in high school, and / or consumes every book on the shelf! If that frustrated someone is a person you know or even IS you, then the Writers' Community and Mentorship Project (CAMP) just might be the ticket.
Is Writers' CAMP right for you? Writers' Community and Mentorship Project (CAMP) is a non-credit creative writing program founded by the late Jack Myers, former Texas Poet Laureate and SMU Professor, to cultivate local literary talent and promote a supportive environment. Writers' CAMP offers a unique combination of structure and flexibility for writers who crave intensive study in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, or playwriting, but who may not have the time or money to pursue a fine arts degree. We provide two levels of study--Artist and Professional--and one community that would love to have you as a member.
CAMP writers pay for tuition either directly with cash or through "Work Exchange" (WE), depending upon the need of the applicant and of our community. This unique community component directly links you with other writers and The Writer's Garret in our common goal of making Dallas and North Texas a better place to live.
