Poetry Stone Soup Honors the Wisdom of Jack Myers
Beginning next TUESDAY(April 27) at 7 PM

The Writer's Garret began on the living room floor of the home of Thea Temple &
Jack Myers in the form of the Stone Soup Workshops--peer critique groups in prose
and poetry. These have since separated into three Soups: 1st & 3rd Tuesdays (7 PM),
Prose; 2nd & 4th Tuesdays, Poetry (7 PM); and Combined 2 & 4th Saturdays (10 AM).

Tuesday, April 27, Thea will return to help launch a monthly "reboot" of the Poetry
Stone Soup to explore and preserve the teachings of the late Jack Myers, who has
been described as making "every teacher of poetry look like an amateur by comparison."
One of his last books was a text for learning the craft of poetry, The Portable
Poetry Workshop, [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103332600170&s=4558&e=001eN5yagcjork0d1jGd8arIqrD6uV8Q0IK60VCOUD1Tztb2pyC_tiJJ306er4DvPrbd3qTkE2qf0t-BXIGELjrdt5JH5x9eBqvKY5z_a_BmBlgK9QOKsHLWBLB2SoyRGBgTUB9WezttMBxCDPSKFKKSF3OUr2a4rKCxxNJwfDtuVpuIhunWLvMUWs-wylRTcrvrI26dghk96cEJ4BqJ3pNzaB9LUODlXoC]
and it has received 5 star reviews and been described as a "10 on a scale of 10."

The last Tuesday of each month will take a lesson from The Portable Poetry Workshop
[http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103332600170&s=4558&e=001eN5yagcjorkIhrSZVbnbdWG51unFYsiilHoNOyFJ8EXINjugD7ZIIzq7cvY7G7pl6qSBg3QCjfiFaMcXrO7EftDnr9ML68QuUbx22unFLvJSr_15MinNyyTkginRFvAEHKhSt5An37e5LJ92UVhpjBgKXjNLfIeAOlws5e1VKbMgB6hDNO3N8khokHiVHIt0jfCkzBPv2H0s6NCH3KSMSwdC6EKkb6HSb9-QHxCKVGeALQ31Z8N4VK7E_XdbJ5_B72vQTCSg8NF84oix4VzeZ4ix9uNeBfnF]
to  rememberdJack's special way of respecting students and viewing language, metaphor,
line breaks, and whatever other lessons he has in store for us. The workshop will
take turns with guest facilitators, who will work in tandem first with Thea, and
then with Imana Cordova, and all of talented poets. The second Tuesday of the month
will remain strictly a critiquing workshop, but hopefully some of the lessons from
The Portable Poetry Workshop will spill over and continue in practice.

We will have copies of the book on hand, but used copies can be purchased fairly
cheaply, and we recommend that you have this book for your library.

The first visit is FREE, and then $3 per visit thereafter.
