This basic one-day Workshop is designed to teach essential GIS skills as indicated by a survey of 500 GIS professionals, as well as input from several thousand aspiring GIS practitioners. Staff from government agencies, non-profits and universities will find the workshop particularly relevant. This is a brand new class developed by New Urban Research.

Each workshop is 8:30 am - 4:30 pm and customized for each city in which it is taught.

• How to create a basic reference map and effective layout .

• How to perform spatial queries ( attribute and location ).
• How to export to a geo-enabled pdf and how to open the data in ArcGIS Explorer (ESRI's free map browser).
