March, 2010A Community Cancer Health Fair will highlight Cancer Awareness Month at Texas State University-San Marcos April 9.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center.
Free testing for several common forms of cancer will be available, and a workshop for those facing cancer is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. at the center.
Texas State Cancer Awareness Month also includes on-campus events, including a research symposium and a speech by Dr. Leonard Lichtenfeld, the deputy chief medical officer of the American Cancer Society.
Community outreach event have been scheduled throughout the region, and a marrow donor drive is set for April 20 at the San Marcos Convention Center.
