 NOTE FROM TAMARA

true north Happy New Year from all of us at Girlstart!

We're thrilled to share with you some highlights from the calendar. We will be adding more events soon--we'll keep you posted on where you can find us in your community. But wouldn't it be great if you also got updates from Girlstart through Facebook? So please become our fan on Facebook--we post articles, ideas, and fun related to STEM, and of course for girls!!! We promise that we won't overload your inbox. Our goal is to have 1,000 fans by the end of January!! The first 25 new fans get a vintage Girlstart t-shirt (many colors are available!). Pass it on!!

You are welcome to join us at the 5th Annual Expanding Your Horizons Girls Conference, Saturday April 17, 2010! EYH is designed to get girls excited about math, science, and technology education and careers. The all-day series of hands-on workshops for girls are led by professional women working in math, science, engineering and technology fields. Each year, 400+ 4th through 8th grade girls participate. Why not join us? EYH registration is open now! Check it out at www.eyhaustin.org.

Girlstart is also around Austin: at the Austin Children's Museum, Science Sunday, on January 24th. Also, we'll be at the Austin Family Camp Fair at the Palmer Events Center on Saturday, January 30th. Stop by and say hello! We'd love to see you.

Summer Camp 2010 registration is open! www.girlstartcamp.org. Last year's Summer Camp sold out, so register early—and get a discount too! We'll tell you more about the fabulous fun that Summer Camp has in store in our next newsletter—but until then, join us this month around and about in Austin!

Best wishes,

Tamara

p.s.: if you or someone you know likes table tennis (aka, ‘ping pong,' if you are, like me, uninitiated)...keep tuned for a fun spring event for adults AND children!
