The Institute of Texan Cultures has selected Bryan P. Howard to serve as Director of Exhibits and Public Programs. He assumed his duties Nov. 23.
Bryan joins the institute from the Parris Island Museum at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, South Carolina, where he served as a museum curator and archaeologist since 2002. Prior to Parris Island, He was a project manager in museum development with Southwest Museum Services in Houston.
The Director of Exhibits and Public Programs is a new position at the institute, incorporating public programming and exhibit design, development and production. Howard’s work will involve actively upgrading the exhibit floor, managing original and traveling exhibits from contract to installation and coordinating the museum’s exhibit and program calendar.
Howard has a Ph.D. in anthropology and a certificate in historic preservation from Texas A&M University at College Station, a Master of Arts in anthropology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he graduated magna cum laude in anthropology.
