Greetings from the 2009 Governor’s Nonprofit Leadership Conference! If you are here with us in Dallas, we hope you’ll take a moment between seminars to visit the Exhibit Hall and test out the Texas Connector, a pilot geo-mapping tool that we have created.
However, if you are not attending the Governor’s Nonprofit Leadership Conference, you can still test out the Connector online. Simply visit TexasConnects.org to explore the Connector.
Once you have tested out the Connector, we encourage you to share your thoughts and suggestions on this prototype with us. Click on the link labeled “Take Survey” to provide feedback to OneStar. The survey takes approximately two minutes to complete.
What is the Connector?
The Connector was created in partnership with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) to address an identified need for a statewide system that provides a snapshot of our social service resources. The initial prototype displays Dallas/Fort Worth-area nonprofit information in a geo-coded database, including name, location, type of organization, and service area. Features of the tool include:
- The ability to search for nonprofits within a geographic area,
- Analysis of nonprofit infrastructure in general or in relation to particular needs or social indicators, and
- Customized statistical reports for their region of interest.
Your Input is Needed!
As a key stakeholder in the Texas social sector, your input is essential to our success on this project. The goal of this survey is to collect data to evaluate the Connector’s effectiveness, functionality and public interest. Your input will help us to refine the tool and gauge long-term feasibility in the project and its statewide expansion.
