Thanksgiving is a time to recognize our many blessings. Before we gather around the table on Thursday with friends and family, theFund, would like to thank all of our business partners that hosted campaigns this year, all our generous grantors, donors, Board members, volunteers, and affiliates that gave gifts, and or their time, to contribute to our mission to support the arts in San Antonio. Happy Thanksgiving!
Citibank Service Center Campaign….
Through the dedicated creative efforts of Polly Underwood and her campaign team, over $2500 was raised for theFund. Polly, a Citi employee and a Fund Board member, coordinated this year's Citibank campaign. In addition to her other ingenious fundraising ideas, she initiated the first Citi employee art show and contest. There was a diversity of medias and quality entries on display. An award was given See Photos
The "Art Awareness Day" was a success with over 14 of theFunds affiliates on site to display information and answer questions about the various programs they have available. Ed Conroy, the Development Director for Southwest School for Art and Craft, said, “The school had a steady stream of Citi employees who talked with the school representatives about its programs.”
Polly and her team are already planning for next year and hope to have a Children’s Art day and a Performing Arts event in addition to the Open House and Art Show & Contest.

The annual festival is a partnership between Northside ISD, the City of Leon Valley, and Jefferson Bank. It is free and includes dance and musical performances, hands-on art activities, food, and professional artist demonstrations.
The event is attended by thousands looking for unique holiday gifts and family fun. The purpose of the Los Leones art festival is to teache students about "the business of art," while also working to establish an active arts community.
All the Northside ISD high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools participate in Los Leones. More than 2,500 pieces of quality student artwork were on display for the 14th Annual Los Leones Student Arts Festival, at Leon Valley Conference and Community Center, 6427 Evers Road.
| | "Combined Campaigns"
theFund does several "combined campaigns" where we share the stage with our friends at United Way of San Antonio. These are not too different from when we make a solo workplace presentation. A combined campaign presents both the United Way and theFund concepts to donors at the same time.
San Antonio Water Systems, NEISD, and DPT Labs are examples of a combined campaign. Some companies find it more convenient to work this way and employees are comfortable making the determination between health and human services, and the arts without any problems. Both provide services to our community but in very different ways.
The Combined Federal Campaign, City of San Antonio, State Employee, and Public Schools are other examples of combined campaigns, where theFund has gone through an application process to be admitted to the program. In situations where it is just not possible to do two separate campaigns working together for the benefit of the employer and employee is a solution.
A Great Gift of Thanks.
Give a FUNd Card for a thank you gift. A thank you that keeps rewarding the recipient with discounts to arts events and activities throughout the year. The one card you don’t have to pay interest on. Our FUNd Cards are actually a set, two for one, so you can give a set of “his and hers” or keep one for yourself and give the other as a gift.
