$100,000 Allstate Foundation Grant SCORES Help for Texas DV Survivors
Around Texas

November, 2009

IRVING, Texas, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- One in every four women will bear the
hardship of domestic violence in her lifetime. October is Domestic Violence
Awareness Month and the need to support victims persists every day of the
year. That's why The Allstate Foundation awarded a $100,000 grant to support
Jason Witten's SCORE Foundation to help break the cycle of violence in Texas.
Through Witten's Support - Community - Overcome - Rebuild - Educate (SCORE)
Foundation, the Dallas Cowboys' star is placing positive male mentors in San
Antonio, Austin and Dallas/Fort Worth shelters.

"Exposure to family violence is an unfortunate reality in our community
today," Witten said. "We know our support is especially crucial as the current
economic climate places a stronger strain on families, resulting in more
people seeking shelter services. As a community, we can all play a role in
helping victims become strong and safe survivors."

Many of the people who fall victim to the perils of domestic violence are
children. By placing male mentors known as a SCOREkeeper in shelters, this
partnership is working toward releasing the deadly grip domestic violence has
on these families. Through the The Allstate Foundation's grant, the
SCOREkeeper will be walking families through an economic empowerment
curriculum to help them become financially independent survivors.

"We've come together to take a stand against domestic violence," said Phil
Lawson, field vice president for the Allstate Texas Region. "This partnership
is an extension of the Allstate Good Hands Promise to help all members of
society feel better protected today and better prepared for the future.
Together, we are empowering survivors with the opportunity to have economic
autonomy and personal freedom."

This the second year The Allstate Foundation has awarded the SCORE Foundation
$100,000 to help support prevention and recovery programs for victims of
domestic abuse in Texas. This partnership is centered on The Allstate
Foundation's Domestic Violence Program to help victims become survivors.
Through our state grants and national grants earmarked for the state of Texas,
Allstate is being positioned as a leader in domestic violence recovery.
