CleanFUEL announces $12.9M in DOE grants
Around Texas

September, 2009

Alternative fuel company CleanFUEL USA said Wednesday that it has been awarded $12.9 million in U.S. Department of Energy stimulus grants to build a network of propane fuel pumps for the commercial transportation industry.

CleanFUEL USA, in coordination with partners such as Houston-based ConocoPhillipsCo., will establish more than 100 Autogas liquid propane refueling stations in major U.S. cities.

The first station will be installed in Atlanta, followed by Chicago, Houston, Denver and Sacramento, Calif.

The Energy Department estimates that the initiative will provide the equivalent of more than 3 million gallons of petroleum each year.

Other partners include the Texas State Technical College, the Central Texas Clean Cities Coalition, Rush Truck Centers, 16 additional area Clean Cities Coalitions and the Propane Education and Research Council.
