Texas history workshops taking place across state
September, 2009In September and October, the Texas Historical Commission (THC) will sponsor eight workshops throughout the state targeting small museums.
Led by Toxey/McMillan Design Associates of San Antonio, the workshops will focus on how to design exhibits from idea to installation.
Meant to help small museums, including those with all volunteer staffs, the workshops will help attendees learn about the process of developing and designing creative, dynamic and interpretive exhibits.
The workshops are the second installment in the Training for Texas Museums initiative, which is coordinated in partnership with the Texas Association of Museums and supported in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Cost is $25.
In addition to the workshops, today marks the beginning of the application process from small history museums for the 2010 History Museum Grants program.
Awards of up to $1,000 are available for collections-related preservation and conservation services, supplies and equipment. The deadline to apply for a grant is Oct. 19.
