With little relief from record-breaking heat in sight, San Antonio’s Friedrich Air Conditioning has donated 100 of its Energy Star™-rated air conditioners to area non-profit organizations.
It is the single largest product donation in the company’s 126-year history, according to Brian Campbell, vice president, Friedrich Air Conditioning.
The first unit was installed at the home of a single mother who recently suffered a heat stroke and had to be hospitalized. Elisabeth Rodriguez said she and her six-year-old daughter have “really been suffering this summer.”
“This wonderful donation from Friedrich will make our lives much easier,” said Rodriguez, who suffers from diabetes.
“It has come to our attention that hundreds of San Antonio’s most vulnerable children, the elderly and other individuals in need would suffer less from the dangerous heat if only they had a few hours of cool air each day,” Campbell said.
“San Antonio has been good to Friedrich, so on behalf of all of our employees, I am proud to present our air conditioners to some of the city’s most highly valued and respected charities for distribution to the needy,” he continued.
Friedrich Air Conditioning is a 126-year-old San Antonio-based company that now is a leading manufacturer of air conditioning and air treatment products. The company’s best-selling products are window air conditioners known for their quality and dependability. Some of the original products manufactured in the 1950s are still operating today.
