Downtown Fort Worth Inc. and the Burnett Foundation will renovate a 3.3-acre city park to make it more useable for downtown workers and residents. Designed over two years, the renovations could begin in mid- to late July. Children’s play areas will be added and water fountains removed to make room for a "great lawn" in a proposed redesign of Burnett Park in downtown Fort Worth. The Burnett Foundation will fund the changes, expected to cost about $1 million. Downtown Fort Worth Inc. contracts with the city to maintain the park. It is located between West Seventh and 10th streets, west of Lamar Street. The land for the park was donated to the city by Samuel "Burk" Burnett, a rancher and philanthropist, in 1919, in memory of his children.
