Museum recieves two significant contributions
Around Texas

June, 2009

The Amon Carter Museum received grants totaling more than $150,000 from the Alcon Foundation - of Alcon Inc. - and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Alcon contribution will underwrite their quarterly Family Fundays events, admission-free occasions for families to experience participatory art projects, book readings and interactive tours in connection with the exhibits.

The NEA’s two contributions are an Access to Artistic Excellence Grant, which will support the Carter’s strategic documentation of its entire collection in digital form; and an American Masterpieces: Visual Arts Touring Grant, which will help to support a forthcoming exhibition called American Modern: Abbott, Evans, Bourke-White and its accompanying catalog and educational programs. American Modern, due in the fall of 2010, will demonstrate how American photographers of the 1930s reinvented the documentary genre.
