Jacqueline Beretta has 35 years of professional work experience in the nonprofit world. She is Chairman of the Beretta Foundation in San Antonio. She is also Chairman of the Social Responsibility Corporation and the creator and inspiration for TexasNonprofits (www.txnp.org). Historically she was Vice President of Operations for the Los Angeles international advertising firm Electric Ideas, Executive Editor of San Antonio Homes and Gardens Magazine, and owner of a graphics and web design firm based in both Fort Collins, CO. and San Antonio.
She is a graduate of The National Cathedral School for Girls in Washington, D.C., and received a BA in business and history at Trinity University. Through Trinity she studied at the London School of Economics. In addition to her formal degrees Jacqueline has received training from The Grantsmanship Center and the Center on Philanthropy at the University of Indiana.
Jacqueline's community Service began early at twenty-one when she became a member of The Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital Foundation board. Since then, she has served on such boards as The Witte Museum, the San Antonio Museum of Art, San Antonio Academy, The U.S. Modern Pentathlon, Learning About Learning Educational Foundation, the San Antonio Botanical Center, The San Antonio Public Library Foundation, and Earth & Sky Radio Series in Austin. She is a Lifetime Member of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
Beretta was a proud member of the Class of 2006, Leadership Texas. In 2007 Beretta was invited to join the Communications Network in Chicago, working with national foundations on how to strategically use communciations to strengthen the voice of philanthropy in America.
Her book, Fugitive Letters - 1829 to 1836 - Stephen F. Austin to David G. Burnett, 1981, won the prestigious Texas Historical Commission Award for Best Local History and received a Letter of Merit from the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Beretta is a direct decendant of Moses Austin's daughter Emily Austin Perry whose brother Stephen Fuller Austin is known as the "Father of Texas".
Jackie is a chef, a writer, enjoys hiking, movies, reading and hiking. She has three children - J.B. in Texas, and Emily Ford and Alice Beretta in Los Angeles. And one grandchild, Ethan Ford in Los Angeles.
